I have recently tried unsuccessfully to install the Joomla 1.5.x and Gallery2 bridge for a number of reasons. Eventually I resolved this and got it working. I have decided to document how I accomplished this since after succeeding the first time 2 months later I when installing on another site I was back to square one. I have also [rokdownload menuitem="64" downloaditem="6" direct_download="false"]uploaded the files[/rokdownload] so that in the unfortunate case that the developers site goes down again this time there will be another copy available.
Disclaimer: At this point I would like to note while I have the files for download I am not the creator of this plugin and as such can't provide the support you would associate with a creator, I am just a guy who spent too many hours searching for the correct files and the correct order to install them. Also this plugin is for Gallery2 and Joomla 1.5 there are many references on the web to the Joomla 1 version but this is separate.
The first file you will need is com_jlibman this is a joomla library manager and is required before you installer the bridge. Installing this after the bridge will not work (or at least it has never worked for me). This installs as any other via the Joomla admin Extensions > Install/Uninstall menu item.
You can now install the Gallery2 bridge 2.com_g2bridge_2.1.zip in the same way as above. I also suggest imageblock and sidebar as useful if not necessary additions.
From this point all that is left to do is the configuration. If you go to Components > Gallery 2 Bridge and see The G2Bridge-Plugin is not installed or published this seems to appear on half the installations I have done but does not mean it isn't working (insert strained smile here) I spent A LOT of time trying to get it is say it does work but when I put the config in and created a menu link it worked... don't waste time like I did.
Just to be complete the configuration elements that are expected are outlined below:
- Gallery 2 Path - the full path to the embed.php file e.g. /home/tomred/public_html/gallery2.5.1/embed.php
- Gallery 2 Uri - the uri that the gallery is available on for direct requests e.g. http://www.tomred.net/gallery2
- Login Redirect - the target of the login script e.g. /main.php?g2_view=core.UserAdmin&g2_subView=core.UserLogin
